Social Media Marketing Tips
  • Social Media Tip: In the “Thank-you Economy” don’t outsource or automate your thank-you’s.
  • Social Media Trend: Community building skills are becoming more important than pitching or selling.

About Debbie

Welcome to my site where I look forward to sharing interesting and helpful information that you can use to develop a successful path for using Social Media to promote a home based business or to develop your Online Business Card with a personal blog.  My articles will focus heavily on using Social Media Marketing and Branding as a way to get your business and yourself noticed online.

I have spent most of my career in the insurance industry working for insurance carriers and helping independent agents with new business development.  My marketing training was very traditional – Features & Benefits – Telling & Selling.  Since losing my job in corporate America I quickly realized that there had been in shift in the way that people are communicating and buying.    If I were going to survive I had to come up to speed in the new world of Social Media Marketing.   I recognized right away that I could help many insurance agents make this transition to a new way of prospecting and retaining clients through social media.   Additionally, I realized how many other professionals could use help in taking control of marketing themselves online.

Relationship marketing and networking with others to help them have always been my strengths. It has been interesting trying to take those skills and applying them to doing business online. Some things work and others don’t. So my goal with this website is to save you some frustrations and share with you all the things I have learned along the way.

There is so much to learn about doing business online and tons of new ways to engage with people that it all just makes your head spin. I feel your pain. Some days I am overwhelmed with the constant connectivity! But the inherent value of using the internet to grow and expand your business is well worth the effort it takes to learn how to use these new tools.

Last October my friend, Stacy Kinney (who has been a great social media mentor), and I found this product called My Branding System. At the time we already had been blogging for nearly a year.   We recognized the quality of the product and the tremendous value for the price.   it occurred to me that this is the perfect vehicle for someone to use for starting a blog and integrating their social media marketing.  What I love about it is that it is a “system” – a step-by-step process that anyone can use.

Having a Plan B is essential.  Maybe your Plan B is taking care of your online reputation or developing a side business.   We all have experienced the downturn of the economy and having a “backup plan” is a good way to prepare for the unexpected. Additionally, having multiple streams of income is a wise move that will make it harder for unexpected catastrophes to devastate your financial goals.  My Branding System can be put to good use for your “Plan B”.  Many home based businesses are network marketing opportunities.  I also have experience in this industry and have seen too many people marketing incorrectly online by just sending out their opportunity link.  It just doesn’t work.  My Branding System has an incredible Affiliate Program that can generate additional income for you while you promote your primary business.

Some things don’t change. I know that treating people with respect, fairness and keeping your integrity are important no matter what business you are in or how you approach it. I look forward to engaging with you and sharing information and it is my biggest hope that what you find here will help you be successful in business and life.   The biggest challenge of all in social media is our ability to engage.  I enjoy picking up the phone and sharing ideas and learning what others are doing, so please connect with me!

The cool thing I love about Internet Marketing is the flexibility and the ability to work anywhere.  My husband is a yacht captain and we frequently get to make trips together on boat deliveries and charters.  I love the ability to be able to keep up with my business through our travels.   I have also had him Brand himself with a Branding System blog, too.   You can meet him at Captain Steve’s How to Boating.

Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or requests. Or, better yet, connect with me on Facebook, Twitter or Linkedin.   To a healthy and prosperous future and finding your Personal Brand.
